Nights in Rodanthe- Make up for week 7

This romantic drama is a movie no different than many others. A woman just out of a hard separation with her husband agrees to watch over a bed and breakfast for one of her friends and typically, she meets and falls in love with a man ( the one and only guest at the inn) that is staying there. They have their drunken night together that brings them closer and they enjoy his four day stay until he has to retreat and go back to his ordinary life of course. This movie portrays women as many other romance movies do. She's weak, sad, and miserable with out her man there any longer until someone new comes along. It's never that a woman can be independent, happy, and perfectly fine on her own. This is creating the idea to viewers especially young women that men are necessary to be happy and successful.

G's to Gents - Make up for week 4

G's to Gents is a reality show on MTV that is based on men that have been to jail and do much illegal activity change their lifes around. Some were drug deals, gang members, and pimps. This lifestyle is portrayed to be cool to many young boys. Being a "gangster" is seen as someone strong and dangerous. This show however changes these perspectives on men. The whole goal is to make these men into successful gentlemen. I think it influences viewers mainly young men that the lifestyle of a "gangster" is not the path in life you want to take. You can watch as these men make changes for the better and realize that life can be so much better without all the crime and such. Shows like these show viewers hope and give the right impression of men to viewers.

John & Kate Plus 8

I was watching the show John and Kate Plus 8 which is a reality show of a family in which she has a set of twins and a then sextuplets. This show promotes women as the traditonal housewive that stays home, cleans, cooks, and cares for the children. Kate the mother stays home while John goes off to work. She washes the kids laundry, gets the twins off to school, and cares for the six children by herself until he returns home. She had dinner on the table for when he comes home while still managing to chase around all those kids. I have much respect for her but it's beyond reality that everyone is able to manage all of that. It may make young women believe that that is what a family should consist of instead of promoting that women can be independent and successful. They can go out in the job world and be in high ranking positions and make their own income without depending on a man.
