Diary of a Mad Black Woman

Diary of a Mad Black Woman, is a movie based on what many women go through. She is a bitter woman going through a divorce in which her husband left her for a younger woman. Then when he gets into a car accident leaving him paralyzed the younger woman leaves and its up to her to now take care of him after already moving on with life. The role of women in this movie especially by the main character is weakness. Her husband owned the house and took care of everything. She had never had a job and she says, "what is she to do now she's not good at anything in the work world." It portrays women as dependent and weak characters. It is only when she is happy after she falls inlove with another man. It's just another example of women needing a man. I think its important for young girls especially to know you can be independent and successful without a man around. When veiwing movies like this it encourages girls that you need a man to care of you and you will be nothing but sad and lonely without one.

Battle of the Bods

I was watching a reality game tv show called Battle of the Bods. This game show consist of 5 women competing based on their outter appearance such as their facial features and body. They wear bathing suits and lingerie while 3 men hidden behind a one way mirror judge them and put them in order from hottest to least hottest. Theses women then have to put eachother in order to what they think the men would order them as. The more they get in correct order the more money they win. I think this show is degrading to women. They have to judge themselves and others to what a man would want. Some women are really hurt by being last place. I think the show is just another example of stereotyping women by looks and gives many young girl viewers the wrong impression. The women do however get their revenge at the end and get to put the men in order based on their bodys.
I think gender and sex is related way too much to the body type and is rated too much on how "sexy" or good looking a person is.
